Flaine is the highest and better know village of the Grand Massif mainly made up of self catering apartments with regular airport transfers available from Geneva Airport. An important factor is the lower slopes to link to the other ski areas are all above 1600m and can be guaranteed to stay open throughout the ski season.
In the last few years Flaine has closed in April with some great snow cover in 2010 with 247cm. Year 2011 with 246cm and year 2012 with 313cm. The skiing area in Flaine is linked via blue runs with a good selection of reds. It also had a section dedicated to off piste skiing the Gear bowl.
It can also boast the longest blue run in France 14km cascade run from the top of Flaine down to Sixt.
